Waste water treatment works Utrecht renewed

“The largest waste water treatment works of Hoogheemraadschap De Stichtse Rijnlanden will be completely renewed. De board decided on the 21ste of december that the key points during the new build will be responsible cost development, innovation and energy savings.” http://www.hdsr.nl/actueel/nieuws/@221108/nieuwbouw_utrecht/

To help reach a decision Brightwork did an extensive strategic study about the future of the largest waste water treatment of this waterboard, with a capacity of 480,000 PE. During the study several alternative solutions were systematically calculated and compared resulting in a responsible solution approach.

At the core of this solution lies the translocation of the sludge treatment installation to the industrial site Lage Weide at the current location of the WwTW Maarssenbroek and the realization of the new build in the waterline at the current location of WwTW Utrecht. As a result of this choice the current WwTW Maarssenbroek will be demolished and its influent will be treated at the WwTW Leidsche Rijn.

Current WwTW Utrecht (Overvecht), build in 1976
